From gravel pit to first-class nature experiences

Hedeland Nature Park is one of Denmark's most unique natural areas. The former gravel pit area has been transformed over decades into an impressive landscape with rolling hills, clear lakes, forests and open spaces, which together create a very special setting for outdoor activities and adventures.

Hills, lakes and a constantly changing landscape

Just a short drive from Copenhagen, you will find 15 km² of varied nature with an extensive network of trails that take you through beautiful landscapes and past some of the park's most iconic experiences. Climb the ski slope with a fantastic view of the area, experience the impressive tree trolls Måne Mor and Glade Anders, or enjoy the tranquility along the lakes and through the green forest areas. Hedeland is a place where nature, history and outdoor life merge – and where every hike offers new experiences.

Start and end your experience at the amphitheater

Start and finish at the iconic Amphitheater

The Hedeland March starts and finishes at Hedeland's impressive Amphitheater – Denmark's largest outdoor amphitheater with room for thousands of guests.

The characteristic stands and the unique location in the middle of nature create a very special atmosphere, where the excitement builds before the start, and where the finish line becomes an experience in itself. Here, the iconic amphitheater forms the perfect setting for a day filled with community, nature experiences and the joy of hiking.

5 good reasons to get out into nature

Five research-based facts about,
what nature does to us, under the heading.

1: Nature provides peace

Nature makes us relax. In green areas, our blood pressure and heart rate drop, and the amount of the stress hormone cortisol is reduced in our saliva. When someone says they find peace in nature, they are talking about something.

2: Nature provides community

In nature, it is easy to create good relationships and social contact between people. It counteracts loneliness. Say hello to those you meet on your way.

3: Nature heals

Nature has a healing effect after illness and hospitalization. Research has shown, among other things, that patients who have a view of nature will, on average, feel less pain, recover faster, and use less medication.

4: Nature prevents

Spending time in green spaces can reduce the risk of developing type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease and asthma. The reason may be that green spaces invite physical activity. Many microorganisms found in nature have also been shown to play an important role in the development of a healthy immune system.

5: Nature gives good lives

New research shows that children who grow up in very green environments have up to a 55 percent lower risk of developing a mental disorder later in life, compared to those who grow up in the least green environments. The study took into account risk factors such as socioeconomic status and mental disorders in the family.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Here are a number of the typical questions we get. You can read much more about the trip and the preparations on the page worth knowing . Should you have any other questions, you are always welcome to contact us at kontakt@fremadmarch.dk.

The routes go through the scenic surroundings of Hedeland Nature Park. The routes are planned with beauty, experiences, challenges and attractions in mind. If you are not already in love with the nature park, you will certainly be on your route.

The routes will be marked with wire flags, so you can safely enjoy your route without having to look down at a phone all the time to find your way.

However, as an extra precaution, we recommend that you have downloaded the selected route to the Komoot app. Before starting, you will receive the route in GPS form, after which the app will show you the way with your phone, just like you know it from car navigation. Your mobile phone or GPS device will guide you through even the darkest forests without any problems.

With the right training, anything is possible. Longer trips are a lot about mindset and belief in your own abilities. Prepare yourself, spend time on training trips, get out into nature and feel what it can give you. Because it can give you a lot.

The training rides also help you gain experience in choosing shoes, socks, and what food your body works best with. As the difficulty and length of your training rides increase, your body also adapts to the distances and increased endurance demands.

Take note and choose a distance that suits you and your level of ambition.

We have placed the depots so that everyone has the opportunity to visit the toilet and refill water.

In addition, there will be soda, coffee, tea, fruit and vegetables, energy bars, mini salami, rye bread, toast with Nutella and much more.

Required equipment: backpack, mobile phone, water bottle/camel bag and coverall.

In addition, it may be a good idea to bring an extra pair of socks as well as a power bank and headlamp if you are going on longer trips.

If you have special needs, please bring your own food and drinks for safety reasons. You can see what we offer at the depot as a minimum under “depots along the way” .

Test what works for you on your training trips and make a meal plan for yourself. It may help to eat a rye bread snack every 2 hours. On long marches you will feel hungry, and it is important to force yourself to eat to give your body some energy to work with. Otherwise, your body can go cold.

If you are forced to abandon the hike, there are several places where you can shorten your trip and return to the start/finish line or head towards the nearest depot.

Yes, it's perfectly okay to bring your dog as long as it is kept on a leash during the entire event.

You are responsible for your dog and for taking other participants and nature into consideration.

Shortly after your registration, you will receive an order confirmation with a QR code. This code must be presented before starting in the starting area.

Approximately 7-10 days before the event, you will receive final instructions by email with practical information about the event and a route link to the route you have registered for.

The starting point is that if you become injured or ill, the buyer (participant) has no right of withdrawal, cf. the Consumer Agreement Act on Internet Commerce, as recreational leisure activities are not included in the agreement.
