why a competitive event like hell walk?
To find the most versatile hiker in the field.
Anyone can train distance. Anyone can chase pace. Anyone can repeat what they already know. But what happens when the framework changes? When the body is tired, the plan fails, and the comfort zone has disappeared?
Hell Walk is not just another walking event.
It's a competition in versatility. In adaptability. In mental agility under pressure.
Here you are not only measured by kilometers. You are measured by your decision-making ability. Your resilience. Your ability to continue when nothing feels familiar anymore.
It's not about being the one who can go the farthest. It's about being the one who can handle the most.
Hell Walk exists to challenge the entire notion of what walking is. To separate those who simply participate – from those who want to be tested.
When the competition is over, we won't necessarily choose the fastest, but the most complete.
The question is not whether you can complete it. The question is whether you dare to start.
what it requires mentally to start!
You can't prepare for Hell Walk by knowing the program.
You can only prepare for the Hell Walk by knowing yourself.
As a participant, you must accept uncertainty. You must be able to work on without knowing the next step. Make decisions when your body is tired and your head is stressed. Continue even if you don't know what's around the corner.
Hell Walk requires mental toughness rather than specialization. The ability to maintain overview, adapt to new situations, and stay focused when the load increases – both physically and mentally.
It's not about having the answers in advance.
It's about being able to find them while you're in the middle of it.
Therefore, all participants start the same:
With the same knowledge.
And the same ignorance.
5 points: This is how you best prepare yourself for hell walk
It might be a good idea to do the following:
1: train to continue - not just to perform
Hell Walk doesn't reward those who can deliver one strong effort. It rewards those who can perform again after the strain has already set in. Think in terms of repeated effort rather than a single peak.
2: Become comfortable in discomfort
3: Work with your own body
4: Prepare for change and variation
Hell Walk tests your ability to adapt. So train in a variety of ways. Change the load, pace and working method. Get used to the fact that the demands change and that you can't "find the rhythm" and stay in it the whole way.

5: think holistically - not individual strengths

What is Hell Walk?
Hell Walk, in all its simplicity, is about finding the most versatile hiker of the year – measured on a wide range of physical and mental parameters.
Can I participate?
Everyone is welcome to register, but we expect you to be able to handle physical and mental demands that go beyond our regular hiking events.
We also expect you to take your participation seriously and train purposefully towards the event.
How do I train purposefully towards hell walk?
Training for the Hell Walk is about building endurance, strength, and the ability to continue when things get uncomfortable.
Now just give me something I can relate to.
Ok.
Train in the shape of your life – then you will have the best conditions. Also train the ability to work under pressure.
Equipment – what should I bring?
Necessary equipment: backpack, mobile phone, power bank, headlamp, water bottle/camel bag, change of clothes/several sets of sportswear, towel, swimwear/clothes that can get wet, snacks, energy, sleeping bag, sleeping pad.
The equipment has been transported to the different places where we will be staying for more than 5 minutes, so you don't have to carry your own equipment other than a hiking backpack with water and energy.
Food – what should I bring?
There is a hot dinner on Saturday and a partially hot breakfast on Sunday. Everything else you need to bring yourself.
Dinner will be something like spaghetti with meat sauce. Breakfast will be something like oatmeal, oatmeal, bread, etc.
When will I receive information about the event?
Shortly after your registration, you will receive an order confirmation with a QR code. This code must be presented before starting in the starting area.
In the week leading up to the event, you will receive final instructions including meeting place and time.
Who am I competing against?
First and foremost, you are fighting against yourself. Completing the Hell Walk is a huge victory in itself.
If you have the energy for more, you can also compete for the title of the year's most versatile hiker - men against men, women against women.
We have also opened up participation in partner pairs. Here you compete against other partner pairs.
What is the procedure for opting out?
Basically, it is you who decides when to stop.
If we determine that your continued participation is not appropriate, we reserve the right to make the decision for you. This assessment is based on common sense – we are not trained doctors.
What if I can't participate anyway?
The starting point is that if you become injured or ill, the buyer (participant) has no right of withdrawal, cf. the Consumer Agreement Act on Internet Commerce, as recreational leisure activities are not included in the agreement. Transfer of starting number can be done by sending an email to contact@fremadmarch.dk.
